A Letter from the President

Dear friend of the Club,

Over the past two difficult years we’ve witnessed the Boys & Girls Club team members provide hope, opportunity and most importantly, they stayed laser-focused on our mission to enable our kids to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens. So much so that our theme for 2022 is MISSION UNSTOPPABLE!

Through challenging times we are proud that we continue to change lives and make a positive difference for thousands of kids in the Fresno County Clubs. Young people have found a safe place when they walk through our doors. It is here behind these Blue Doors where opportunity happens - they find mentors, develop lifelong friendships and they have a second place they can call home. Our Youth Development Professionals respect each child and teen individually and recognize their incredible potential.

Kim Carter, Unit Director for the Clovis Club, shared this story about one of our special young children: Kayden and his eight brothers are currently being raised by his grandmother, who stepped in to care for them after their dad passed away and mom lost custody. The Club is a difference maker for everyone in that family unit. It’s been a safe haven for them. The staff have watched them come out of their shells, step up and be active participants in all programs and activities. “We have helped the boys learn how to deal with a variety of different losses, and they are excelling in school and at the Club,” - Kim Carter.

Kayden, who has a 3.8 GPA with an interest in STEM and robotics, shares a bedroom with five of his brothers. Despite not being the oldest, he’s the family leader and inspires them all. Without him, the others would be lost.

Kayden is a Junior Staff member, a program for teens 13-18 to explore jobs at the Club. They work alongside the staff to run programs, help younger members with homework, plan activities and serve lunch. Kayden loves sports, so you can find him in the gym or on the field teaching everything from basketball to soccer. He is also President of Torch Club (a program for ages 11-13) which engages members through leadership activities, volunteerism and community service. Kayden recently wrote an essay where he spoke about helping people when he grows up. He detailed an impressive plan to start an organization in the next five years that will focus on helping families in need and people who don’t have a home of their own.

“One thing I know is, when you give back to the community and people in need, you change their world,” – Kayden, Age 12, Clovis Boys & Girls Club Member.

Kayden is just one example of how the Boys & Girls Club provides a positive impact on the youth of our community. Today I’m asking you to consider a gift to help kids like Kayden and his brothers. Please join our MISSION UNSTOPPABLE TEAM by making a donation TODAY!

Warm Regards,
