How We Make a Difference
Boys & Girls Clubs give kids opportunities to succeed through programs that truly impact their lives. We help Club members:
Graduate from high school on time with a plan for the future
Engage in healthy behaviors and become fit for life
Develop strong characters and become engaged citizens
Through our Formula for Impact, a roadmap in which we develop programs, we give youth opportunities. Opportunities that ensure they reach their full potential. Every child and teen is welcomed at the Boys & Girls Clubs, where we help them with Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, and Good Character & Citizenship. As a result, we see members learn right from wrong, engage in healthy behaviors, graduate high school, become engaged citizens, and give back as Alumni.
Academic Success
Power Hour Is our flagship academic success program that includes daily homework help and tutoring for all Club members. This program encourages students to become self-directed learners.
Project Learn aims to enhance educational performance of economically disadvantaged adolescents through the provision of out-of-school educational enrichment activities. The program strives to increase students’ interest in education and their scholastic abilities to improve their school grades.
My Future provides members ages 8-16 with a platform to build digital skills, and gives members the opportunity to explore digital safety, digital privacy, digital presence, online communication and retro gaming. It’s a space where kids can interact with each other – free from the prospect of cyberbullying – and share their accomplishments locally and nationally.
Money Matters introduces money management concepts like saving, investing and entrepreneurship. This program teaches financial responsibility and independence among Club members ages 13 to 18. Participants learn how to manage a checking account, create a budget, save and invest, start small businesses and pay for college.
Healthy Lifestyles
Triple Play emphasis good nutrition, physical activity, and social competence with recreational games and healthy meals.
SMART Moves is a prevention and education program addressing problems such as drug and alcohol use and premature sexual activity.
SMART Girls provides health, fitness, prevention/education and self-esteem enhancement for girls ages 8 to 17.
Passport to Manhood teaches responsibility to boys ages 11 to 14 with sessions that focus on a specific aspect of character and manhood through highly interactive activities.
Good Character & Citizenship
Youth of the Year it is our signature effort to foster a new generation of leaders, fully prepared to live and lead in a diverse, global and integrated world economy.
Keystone provides leadership development opportunities for youth ages 14 to 18 to participate in activities, both in and out of the Club, in three focus areas: academic success, career preparation and community service.
Torch Club are chartered, small-group leadership and service clubs for boys and girls ages 11 to 13. A Torch Club is a powerful vehicle that helps Club staff meet the special character development needs.
Junior Staff is an opportunity for teens ages 13 to 18 to explore jobs at our Clubs. Starting from resumes and interviews and resulting in employment alongside existing Youth Development Professionals.
Career Launch prepares teens for the world of careers and work. Through Career Launch, Club teens 13 to 18 years old embark on a journey to explore possible vocations, make sound educational decisions and find success in the world of work.
