Grand Slam with Granville: THE Summer Reading Challenge everyone Waits For

The 4th annual Grand Slam with Granville was this month!  In anticipation, our Club members continued reading books throughout the summer—competing to be the top reader at their Clubhouse. The top 10 readers from every Club got to see the Fresno Grizzles play against the Stockton Ports on August 24th.

110 members took this amazing field trip because of Granville Homes. All 110 members received VIP passes, t-shirts, and swag bags. They also had dinner at The Party Deck, had full access to The Splash Zone and private time with Parker, the Mascot.

“A lot of kids participated in the challenge this summer because their friends got to go to the game last year,” said Director of Operations, Richard Saldivar, “They remembered how much fun they had and they wanted to see Parker!”

“For me, it’s not about the game. I enjoyed seeing my kids read over summer break. It’s a little healthy competition that overall, fills the learning gap,” said Jasmine, Zimmerman Club Mother.  Jasmine’s daughter, Alicia, won top reader at the Zimmerman Club.

At the Boys & Girls Clubs, we motivate our members to succeed in what they put their minds to—whether it’s meeting your reading goal for the summer, joining a sports team, getting their first job, or learning a new skill. The best part is, we get to work with them and provide enhanced experiences like this, providing everyone who walks through our blue doors with a chance for a Great Future.
