AT&T Connected Learning Center at the Clovis Club
On Monday, August 5th, AT&T opened their 9th Connected Learning Center at the Boys & Girls Club of Clovis and the community celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The Connected Learning Center included new computers and equipment for Club members to use after school. This is part of a larger commitment AT&T has made to open at least 100 new Connected Learning Centers by the end of 2027.
Marc Blakeman, the President of AT&T for California and the Pacific States, spoke at the event and said, “This investment we’re making not only comes down to these great computers but with curriculum that teaches you how to use the power of the internet to help your daily lives.”
For the Club, it’s a big step towards academic success for youth— a focus in all of our after school programs. With school starting this month it is crucial that all kids and teens have the resources to do their homework, connect with their teachers, apply for scholarships and everything else that comes with stepping into adulthood.
Nalu, 11th grade, told the crowd about his appreciation for the computers at the Club and how he plans to utilize them.
“These computers will help me apply to colleges ones day. They will help me access job applications when I am ready. They can help me with anything I need! And they can help you too. Come to the Club and see for yourself how great it is,” said Nalu.
It took several months to get the center up and running, but the high-speed connectivity for the club’s 15 new computers was well worth it. The Clovis Club was using hotspot internet previously which was troublesome according to our IT Director and the students who tried using the computers every day.
We are very grateful for the investment AT&T has made and the work put into the project by their staff and ours. The Connected Learning Center has already proven to be a huge asset to our Club members.
