Motorcycle Club Raised $900 By Selling Kid Artwork
The artwork created by Club members is special to us because we are there when they struggle to draw between the lines but never give up. We are there when they learn adding black paint makes their masterpiece dark, and we are there when they show it off to their parents as they are being picked up. To us, the artwork created in our Clubs is priceless, but to others, they are worth hundreds of dollars.
A local fundraiser hosted by the Bay Area Biker Association (BABA) raised $900 during an auction of member’s artwork, and Harley Davidson swag. BABA is from Oakland, CA but every year they take a trip south to celebrate the biker season—the time of year when the weather is nicest to ride motorcycles (March through October). During this annual trip, they selected us to be the beneficiary of their October fundraiser.
“They first came to the West Fresno Boys & Girls Club in July. They brought art supplies and helped the member’s paint. It was really cool to see them interacting with the members knowing they were going to bid on the paintings in three months,” said Tiara Rodriquez, West Fresno Club Program Director.
When hearing about the $900, West Fresno Club members were in awe. They could not believe their art was good enough but felt so encouraged to know others thought differently. Caring adults like this contribute to our mission of enabling young people and helping them reach their full potential.
