UC Merced Trip with Club Teens
Young people from three different Clubs were inspired by their tour of UC Merced College and loved exploring Atwater Castle Air Museum on May 6th.
Summer comes with more opportunities to take field trips. This one was particularly special because it gave teens a view of what college life could be like if they pursued higher education.
“The trip helped me see that there’s so many opportunities for me in the future,” said Joaquin, age 16,”I enjoyed seeing all the different types of classes I could take.”
After the tour of UC Merced College, the Club members and staff headed over to the Atwater Castle Air Museum. This museum gives visitors a peek into the past and provides insight into the evolution of the aircraft and past milestones of aviation. The kids loved seeing the over seventy restored vintage military aircraft located at the museum.
Field trips allow us to open the eyes of a young person to discover careers and educational opportunities they find interest in. One teen even said, “I’d like to research what a career in aviation would look like.”
“Everyone including the staff learned so much at the museum. It was an amazing experience, said” Director of Operations, Maria Garcia.”
